Testing a new full-text article finder

The library is testing LinkSource in some databases; LinkSource is a program for linking article citations in one database to the full text of the article in another. Wherever you see the icon appear in a list of search results, you’re looking at our trial of this software.

Give it a try, but if it doesn’t link to the full text, don’t forget to look for our other full-text linker, which will be designated by the button or just the text reading ‘link to full text.’ These links may connect to the full text if LinkSource doesn’t. Bear with us as we work out the kinks and, as always, call your reference librarians at 410-617-6802 if you have any questions!

Summer Schedule for Book Delivery

If you're taking a summer class, please make a note of this important information!

Starting on Monday, June 1, books ordered from the library catalog will only be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please take this into consideration as you work on papers & projects this summer.

More details:

In the summer, the book delivery service provided by MIC -- the group of libraries with which we share our catalog (more here) -- is scaled back to three days a week. This affects books that you find in our library catalog and request using the "request" link in the blue banner at the top of the page -- books that are available at Baltimore International College, Columbia Union, Hood, Mount St. Mary's University, and Stevenson. Starting June 1, deliveries will be made every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (excluding Thursday, June 4 and Monday, July 6).

In addition, from May 19 - 29, deliveries will be made on Tuesdays and Thursdays (that's May 19, 21, 26 adn 28).

If you have questions about what day a request you have made will arrive at your requested pickup point, please call the LNDL circulation desk at (410) 617-6801.

If you find yourself in a jam, don't forget that you can always go directly to the college that holds the book you need. You can also check the catalogs of other area libraries that offer LNDL patrons the ability to borrow material (they're the starred ones). And don't forget that the Enoch Pratt Free Library has extensive holdings that might just include what you're looking for. Get in touch with the LNDL reference desk if you need help figuring this out.

The regular delivery schedule -- daily, Monday through Friday -- will resume in the fall. We'll keep you posted!

Did you miss the Celebration of Faculty Scholarship?

Did you miss the Celebration of Faculty Scholarship earlier this spring? Take a break from grading finals and spend a few minutes catching up. You can take a look at photos of this year's exhibit, and peruse the bibliography.

This year, you can also watch a video of faculty presentations. Four members of the faculty -- from the English and Education departments -- talked about the work that was highlighted in this year's celebration, which covered works published from July 2007 through June 2008. The speakers were:

Dr. Wendy Smith, Associate Professor, Education, Loyola College in Maryland
Dr. Debra Suarez, Associate Professor, Education, College of Notre Dame of Maryland
Dr. Jeana DelRosso, Associate Professor, English, College of Notre Dame of Maryland
Dr. Mark Osteen, Professor, English, Loyola College in Maryland

You can also view bibliographies for previous (and future!) celebrations on the faculty publications page of our website.

Please help us keep these lists up-to-date! You can send us information on your publications at any time, and if you notice an omission or correction for any of the existing bibliographies, let us know! Additions and corrections can be sent to Nancy Hanks: nhanks@loyola.edu.
